UX/UI & BRANDING: ANGELES ROLDAN, MONTSERRAT LLERENA & SANTIAGO ROLDAN

Challenge:

FLYP’s first version was a clear MVP. The goal was simple: test whether there was a real audience for action sports fantasy games. There was. V1 was intentionally lightweight. The gameplay loop was short, focused, and just enough to validate the idea and the user base. It proved the point. When it came time for the next release, the challenge changed. The question was no longer whether people would try the product, but how to design an experience that would keep them engaged over time. That meant going beyond a visual update or a stronger brand. The experience itself needed to expand.

Process:

It took us almost seven months of workshops, weekly meetings, and endless iterations to reach the final product. At first, it was challenging to understand the full scope of the product and how we could make it work across multiple sports, different play modes, and various ways of engaging users within a strong game loop. Midway through the process, we also developed a complete rebranding, exploring different concepts and directions that resonated with FLYP’s values and purpose. That’s how we arrived at a brand that is modern, bold, yet clean. Once we defined the brand and established a solid UX foundation with clear flows, everything started to come together with the new UI.

Solution

The product evolved around two clear game modes: Quick Play, an improved version of the original gameplay, designed for fast participation around events Manager Mode, which introduced a deeper layer to the experience Manager Mode opened up a longer gameplay lifecycle: athlete trading, deeper athlete insights, daily and weekly challenges, points and FLYP coin accumulation, and a market dynamic that gave users reasons to return regularly. The goal wasn’t to add features for the sake of it. It was to design a structure where engagement could grow naturally as the product matured. This is the kind of work that usually happens after MVP. When a product has traction, and the focus shifts to retention, depth, and long-term play instead of just validation. That’s where we spent our time with FLYP: helping turn a proven idea into a more complete, engaging fantasy experience built to last.
